David Calleja Memorial Car Show & Rally 2012

The David Calleja Memorial Car Show & Rally was held on Sunday, February 5 at Maddingley Park at Bacchus Marsh. As the name suggests it is more of a car show than a truck show but John took the Volvo and the trailer. In spite of the fact that he arrived at 7.50am, he still had trouble getting around the displayed cars to get the rig in, but as an experienced truckie he is used to getting his ‘right of way’ over cars, so they soon moved for him.

Rod Calleja, son of the late David, had his three trucks on display - the 1964 Mack B61 (originally McMullens of Orbost Gippsland Princess), the 1984 Mack Superliner and the 1971 Diamond REO.

How nice is this? Gillespie Earthmoving's 1973 Mack R600 (Flintstone). This was an ex-Calleja and ex-McGlashans of Mildura truck and is beautifully restored.

And finally, leave the best until last, the Volvo and the Freighter Trailer.
